The OECE got the ball rolling on pay parity with the first national meeting in July 2019. Since then, we formed a pay parity steering group and the government changed salary attestation to be based on the first step of the KTCA and then the first 6 steps.
Our position remains strong on this issue as we advocate for all early childhood centres to be funded at least at the same amounts as Kindergarten Associations, and early childhood qualified teachers in centres and home-based to be paid at least equivalent to what primary school teachers earn for their training, experience, and professional recognition.
