In the last funding round (July 2022) 83% of teacher-led centres (outside of kindergartens) opted in. This is an increase on the previous March 2022 funding round when 79% of centres agreed to paying all their ECE and primary school qualified and certificated teachers at least at the bottom 5 steps of the teacher base salary scale.

For the next funding round (Nov 2022) centres are asked to indicate if they wish to continue to opt-in to the 5 Steps (which will become 6 Steps from 1 Jan 2023). The Ministry will also provide centres with a choice of attesting to paying teachers on pay steps higher than 6 but which are not pay parity (the amounts the Ministry has set for salary attestation are lower compared with teacher pay rates in public schools and community-based free kindergartens).
